🎂 Meet My 20-Year-Old Transformer
Today, my Japanese-born, British-built car officially turns 20 years old — and honestly, it feels like I should throw it a birthday party with Energon cubes and cake.
This little Transformer-in-disguise (okay, technically it’s a Honda … now you get the slogan, right?) has proven itself to be a mech of unmatched reliability. Over two decades, the only parts that ever failed were one lonely suspension spring and a sun visor. That’s it.
- No oil leaks.
- No mysterious drips.
- No drama.
Just regular “human stuff” — wiper blades, oil changes, petrol, tires, Bulbs, starter battery, floor mats … the usual consumables that keep any car happy. Everything else? Still original. Still strong. Still proud. And the air conditioner is still running — cooling like it’s day one… ❄️⚙️
Or in other words — the exhaust system, engine (minus the water pump and timing belt), and clutch… all still original.
To be fair, it’s worth mentioning the car’s only got 115k km on the clock — and of course, it’s been driven exclusively by the world’s best (and most mechanically sympathetic) driver – hehe 😏😏😏 (That’s what I picked up from having an old man who understood cars — and the engineering behind them — from the ground up. I learned how a clutch feels, what ABS is really there for, the four-stroke cycle … and that not every curb deserves a hug.)
🧩 Known Weak Spots (Even Autobots Have Them)
If we’re being honest, there was one recurring nemesis — the warm/cold selector switch. The cable behind it snapped twice, a common little glitch in this series. Annoying, yes. Catastrophic, no.
Otherwise, this car has been nothing short of bulletproof.
⚙️ When the Critics Were Wrong
Back in the mid-2000s, the German auto lobby dismissed this model as too expensive and too stiffly sprung.
Now, after 20 years of near-flawless performance, I can say with full confidence: they were absolutely wrong.
This car aged better than most tech gadgets, and it still runs smoother than some brand-new models.
Expensive were just a few of the pics here and there… 🙁
And not to forget that annoying side quest — the flat tire…
🔋 The Future — Electric — oh absolutely… just, you know, not right now.
I’d love to roll with a Honda again — truly, my inner gear geek is ready for it. But looking at the current lineup… Sadly, Honda (much like Toyota) seems stuck in hybrid limbo — and for someone rocking a solar array on the roof, that’s basically “Plan B” tech. Give me full electric or give me range anxiety, baby. Until then, my old mech keeps on serving like the battle-tested legend it is. ⚙️⚡

Twenty years later, my Honda still transforms daily — not into a robot (well, not yet), but into a symbol of great engineering and simplicity.
