Soβ¦ today marks post #100! π
This week I got my very first backlink request β an IT nerd from Ukraine who actually liked one of my articles and asked if we’d link to each other.
Now, Google treats reciprocal linking as a bit of a gray area: the more inbound links you rack up, the better your search ranking β so two people swapping links to boost each other is exactly the kind of thing the algorithm side-eyes.
So I flagged the link to his post as rel="nofollow" β the polite little “dear Googlebot, please don’t pass any ranking juice through here” tag. My fellow nerd, however, didn’t apply that same safeguard on his end.
Net result: my post walks away with the better Google scoreβ¦ but hey, I did warn him. π
